One 85-year-old visitor remarked, as she sat down on my front porch, that she had noticed a cinnamon tree with fruit as she drove down the drive. I finally figured out that "cinnamon tree" is a local term for "persimmon tree." She also told me that her family had made "cinnamon beer" with the ripe fruit. So naturally I am wondering whether persimmon beer will figure in one of your columns.
